Medical Disposable Vacuum Blood Collection Tube of Pro-coagulation Tube
Application
Pro-coagulation tube is a type of blood collection tube used in medical laboratories for obtaining blood samples for various tests.
The main purpose of using pro-coagulation tubes is to obtain serum samples for testing. Serum is the liquid portion of blood that remains after clotting has occurred. It contains various components, such as proteins, enzymes, hormones, and antibodies, that can be analyzed to assess a person’s health status.
Pro-coagulation tubes typically contain a gel or clot activator substance at the bottom. When blood is drawn into the tube, the clot activator initiates the coagulation process, causing the blood to clot. During centrifugation, the clot forms, and the gel separates the serum from the cellular components of the blood, such as red blood cells and platelets.
Once the clotting process is complete and the sample has been centrifuged, the serum can be extracted from the tube for further analysis. Serum samples are commonly used for tests such as liver function tests, lipid profiles, hormonal assays, and many other diagnostic investigations.
It’s important to note that pro-coagulation tubes should be used for specific tests that require serum samples. For tests that require plasma, which is the liquid portion of blood obtained without clotting, anticoagulant tubes, such as EDTA or heparin tubes, are used instead.
